Aerodynamics Flight - Science.

FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics.

  • In your groups of 3 you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behaviour.
  • In groups of 3 you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behaviour.
Image result for flight forces

Definition:
the study of the properties of moving air and the interaction between the air and solid bodies moving through it.

4 forces of flight:

  1.   Lift
  2.   Thrust
  3.  Gravity
  4.  Drag

Paper Plane:

Material:

1. Paper
2. Large amount of space

Steps:

1.  Fold the paper in half
2.  Create tringles shape up the top that lines up with the line down the middle.
3.  Then do the rest like the nomarl paper plane and your finshed.

Findings:

Plane Type
Distance
Behaviour
Normal
4m
Curved to the side.
Ailerons
4.2m
It used gavity and pulled to the ground at the end.
Rudder
2.8m
It dropped as soon as I threw it.

Conclusion:
Today we did a different experiment. We did a paper plane experiment . What we did was create a paper plane them use different stratgies each time we measured how far the plane goes. This experiment was a bit boring but it was okay making the paper planes. I thought the paper plane was going to be in a straight line but it curved to the side.

Rainbow paper- Sciences

Today D.S and my class S.H, we did our first experiment but it was only a little experiment. I really enjoy doing this experiment and I really like how the water based pens went up and it was mixing different colours. We was using green and blue but it mixed into a pink and purple, I really like how it did that.

Rainbow Paper

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

 Materials:

  1. Filter paper

  2. Water based felt pens.

  3. Ruler

  4. Cup

  5. Water

  6. pencil

Process:

Step 1: Rule 1 cm on the paper

Step 2: Draw a slight line on the paper and add two dots using the water felt pen.

Step 3: Get the plastic cup and the paper in there with the dots at the bottom but not touching

Step 4: Add a little bit of water

Step 5: Fold the top of the paper

Step 6: Wait and see what happens

This is what happened.

Conclusion: What have I learnt from this experiment?

Today with this experiment I learnt different materials. I just realise that water based felt pens are actually real
thing. Also at the start we only used 2 colours, we used blue and green but in the end it ended up changing
into other colours like pink and purple. I really enjoyed watching the colours smudge together making
different colours, and also was moving in different directions and speeds.

Household ingredients

Aim: to learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are solid, liquid or a gas.

Equipment
1. Soap
2. Lemon Juice
3. Salt
4. Sugar
5. Vinegar
6. Milk
7. Onion Gas
8. Bleach
9. Baking Soda
10. Lemonade

Steps
1.
2.
3.
4.

Repeat the steps for all the chemicals.

Task 1: Put the 10 chemicals in a chart with the titles - Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.

Conclusion

I learn't that Lemonade is a solid because I didn't know that And baking soda for the INGREDIENT had sodium bicarbonate in it.

Empathy

We’ll explore the benefits and elements of empathy, and show you how you can learn to develop this skill. Empathy is putting yourself into other people's shoes and motivating people to feel good about themselves. Having the ability to understand share the feelings of others.

Thinking back to Tuesday's session:

What sport were you presenting ?
S.H yellow was playing netball and we had to make our own skills up but we had to change 2 skills in the netball.

What modifications did your group make, and why?
S.H yellow team we make only 2 skills up here are the skills that we made up.

It's basically just a normal game of netball but before you score a goal you MUST put the ball through your legs ( Chloe will show an example ) Also you can take a step instead of passing straight away. ( Chloe will show an example )

What went well?
Everyone listen and understand what me and Chloe was talking about and we didn't need to yell too.

What would you change?
I would change the skills because i didn't really understand how to do it.

What were the differences between your first and second session?
The first group was a pain because none of them was listening and I just got mad but when we move onto the second group, The second group was amazing because they all listen to my group and we actually got throw a netball game. the first group we didn't even get to play a netball game.

 Reflection: am I a leader ? why/why not?
I think I am a leader because I will understand people when they tell me stuff and I always help other people if they don't know what to do and I do.

Tuesday playback/P.E

On Tuesday we had P.E and my class and D.S,we played multi ball. Multi ball is with lots of sports and we play these one.

  • Netball
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Touch
We played all of those games for one period because we always have two period of P.E. The second period we got pick in groups and we had to make 2 changes in the sports game. These are the games at the teacher chose from.
  • Netball
  • Touch
  • Football
Last week we were playing ki o rahi and we had groups in each class. S.H and D.S we had groups and our groups were.

S.H
  • Yellow
  • Red
  • No bibs

D.S
  • Green
  • No bibs
  • Pink
We had to stay in our groups and S.H in yellow did netball that was the team I am in but I don't know what D.S and rest of the S.H groups are. We are in netball and every sports had to make some changes but only 2.

Here are the 2 changes we changes.

  • It’s basically just a normal game of netball but before you score a goal you MUST put the ball through your legs ( Chloe will show an example ) Also you can take a step instead of passing straight away. (Keyana and Chloe will show an example )

These are the 2 changes that we made but we haven't finished yet. I hope you like my blog post that I made.
